Exciting Opportunity for Residents to comment on the future of bus services

Bungendore SurveyDeane's Buslines announces an exciting opportunity for the residents of Bungendore to comment on all aspects of the bus services operating in their region.

The Bungendore and Elmslea Public Transport survey will be delivered to households over the next two weeks and will give residents and community groups the opportunity to voice their opinion on the matters such as what would entice them to use bus services and the type of service they require.

Deane's Buslines has been an innovative transport supplier in Queanbeyan for over 15 years, but only supplies school bus services to Bungendore. Even though its knowledge of Queanbeyan is extensive, Bungendore possess new timetabling challenges.

Operations Supervisor James Singer said "with the rising cost of fuel, Deane's Buslines want to provide the most efficient services possible to ensure that the service is user friendly and viable. Deane's Buslines is asking the residents of Bungendore and Elmslea Estates to comment on various aspects of their household as well as their current and future needs for a bus service."

"At this stage Deane's Buslines is considering both a limited local town service as well as a commuter service to Canberra. The survey will help set the direction for development. Deane's Buslines needs input from the public on the times and type of service they would like. Without input from the travelling public, Deane's Buslines might start a service in which does not suit the majority of passengers." said Mr Singer.

Some of the innovations that Deane's Buslines provides in the Queanbeyan area like contactless debit cards and disabled services are examples of services that could be provided in Bungendore if the survey deems them necessary.

Deane's Buslines is urging all households to complete the survey honestly so they can develop the best bus service possible for Bungendore.

The survey was launched by Member for Monaro Steve Whan on October 17 2005. Completed surveys should be returned using the reply paid service by close of business on the 17 November 2005.
